Estate Ruwinkel (Landgoed Ruwinkel) is located just behind the Utrecht Ridge, which is the second biggest national park. The biggest and probably the most famous national park is the "veluwe" which is close by as well. Amsterdam and Rotterdam are a 60 minutes drive from Estate Ruwinkel. However the intercity train will only take 45 minutes from train station Veenendaal - de Klomp to Amsterdam central station. At Veenendaal - de Klomp you can park your car for free.

Amsterdam
It's hard to make a selection what to do in this cosmopolitan city. With less than a million inhabitants it is not a very big city but yet you feel the energy. Amsterdam has it all: from nice little restaurants, beautiful canal houses to world famous museums. You will appreciate your stay at rural located Estate Ruwinkel after a day in the busy city center. If we might suggest your day in Amsterdam than you start by taking the train from Veenendaal - de Klomp. The train will take you to the city centre and you will have absolutely no worries about parking your car (which is both expensive as hard to find a suitable spot). When leaving central station you can buy your 24 hours I Amsterdam card at the tourist information office just outside the train station. This card provides you free access to a lot of museums, the canal boat tour and free public transport within Amsterdam. Now it's up to you which museums you go to: don't miss out on one of the old canal houses you can visit! They are still decorated as they were back in our golden century. The last direct train back to Veenendaal - de Klomp departures at 00:23. There is one last possibility after that but with a connection to make.
Van Gogh
Did you know that the second largest collection of paintings from Vincent van Gogh can be found in the Kröller Müller museum. This museum is located at National Park "de Hoge Veluwe". Approximatly only 30 minutes cardrive from Estate Ruwinkel. Make sure you also visit the close by located Museuonder: it displays every aspect of life and more underneath you in the soil.
de Efteling
Traveling with children? You must go to the magical world of the Efteling, they will love you for that. Anton Pieck, a famous artist of nostalgic drawings, designed this amusement park. You will love the scenery. There is a big fairy tell forest where you can find the candy house of Hansel & Gretchen, Snow-white and many more. Rollercoaster fans will love the Baron ride or one of the other rides.
Open Air Museum Arnhem
Step back in time in to historical Netherlands. Open-air museum Arnhem provides you every aspect of former daily life in the Netherlands. These are all original houses which were on the nominee to be torn down but have been saved by the museum to preserver the history of the Netherlands of the past. There is even a little part of Amsterdam been rebuild.
Burger Zoo Arnhem
This is our tip to do on a not so sunny day during your stay. Why? Because this Zoo has a few domes: you can walk trough the tropical rain forest: spot the birds who live free in there, walk trough a big cave right into the Arizona dessert and it's inhabitants and trough the ocean back in to the normal Zoo.
Walibi Holland
This is a theme park for the real thrill seekers: rollercoasters, rollercoasters and rollercoasters. Located on the former ocean floor of the South sea in our newest province Flevoland. This is a real adrenaline kick.
Giethoorn
Venice of the north. The beautiful village of Giethoorn lies in the province of Overijssel. The houses of this village are build on islands. You can join a tour on boats to discover this beautiful place in the Netherlands.
Rotterdam
Rotterdam the second biggest city of the Netherlands also called Manhattan on the river Maas. In may 1940 this city was severly bombed and the city centre was almost completly destroyed (as a wonder the old cityhall and the tower of the Sint Lawrence church survived). In other cities across Europe they try to rebuild what was destroyed, in Rotterdam the build a complete new city center as can be seen today. Architecture and culture hotspots can be found just around every corner. Go see this marvulous city.
