The Hoge Veluwe

The Hoge Veluwe National Park is a unique park. Starting off as privately owned ground, it is now an independent Foundation which receives a small subsidy from the National Government but relying heavily on the contributions of paying visitors. In addition to a lot of Dutch visitors there are also a lot of tourists visiting this beautiful place in the heart of the Netherlands.

The big four

The Park contains 5,400 hectares of beautiful countryside: from woodland and heathland, to drift sands and peat bogs. The park is completely fenced off. Within the boundaries of the fencing you can spot the big four of the Hoge Veluwe:

        • Red game (deer)
        • Fawn game (roe)
        • Black game (wild boar)
        • Mouflons (Corsican sheep)

Kröller Müller Museum

Next to the famous Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam, the Kröller Müller museum has the biggest Van Gogh collection in the world: almost 90 paintings and over 180 drawings. Around 40 works are displayed in the museum. Next to Van Gogh you will also find masterpieces by modern masters such as Claude Monet, Georges Seurat, Pablo Picasso and Piet Mondriaan.

One of Europe’s largest sculpture gardens

If you like sculptures you can visit one of the largest sculpture gardens in Europe. Most famous sculptures are made by iconic artists, from Aristide Maillol to Jean Dubuffet, and from Marta Pan to Pierre Huyghe.

Museonder

What happens underground, literally and figuratively? Discover it at Museonder, the world's first underground museum. You can find the Museonder at the Visitor's Centre. Go on a tour underground and get a fresh look at everything that lives, and has lived underground. From the entire root system of a 135 year old tree to seeing what happens when animals die. The admission is free: it is included in the entrance ticket fee to the park.

Free use of bicycles

Park your car and make use of one of the 1,700 White Bikes, The locations of the free use bikes can be found at several entrances of the park such as the Marchantplein, the Kröller-Müller Museum, Jachthuis Sint Hubertus and the various entrances (Hoenderloo, Otterlo and Schaarsbergen). Children's Bikes (without side wheels) and bicycles with front or rear child seats are available. So be green and cycle!

Estate Ruwinkel consists of 87 detached holiday homes, 30 chalets and 3 villas in the middle of green pastures and forests, and only 35 minutes drive from the fourth largest city in the Netherlands. it will only take 45 minutes by train to get from Veenendaal de Klomp Station to Amsterdam.
