The area surrounding Landgoed Ruwinkel offers everything for a wonderful holiday. Enjoy the tranquility of the park, as well as the city centers of Amersfoort and Veenendaal. From your accommodation, you can relax in the garden or cycle through the diverse landscape of the Gelderse Vallei. With the free Ruwinkel Estate Cycling Junction Map, which you receive with your stay, you can determine your own route. From the park, you can embark on beautiful, peaceful bike rides through farmland, forests, and tranquility, offering a constant surprise.

Cycling routes: From Landgoed Ruwinkel, Woudenberg, Valleikanaal

The approximately 15 km cycle route takes you through Scherpenzeel, Woudenberg, and the Valleikanaal canal. Along the way, you can visit Huize Scherpenzeel, a 14th-century fortified castle, and stop at Hoeve de Beek, which features an information center and trench. You'll cycle along the Valleikanaal canal, part of the Grebbe Line, with views of bunkers and farmland. The Monchouette teahouse offers a rest stop before returning to the park via back roads. An ideal route for a relaxing afternoon surrounded by nature and history. This cycle route is available at reception.

Cycling routes: From Landgoed Ruwinkel, Renswoude, Overberg, Woudenberg

The approximately 28 km cycling route passes through Scherpenzeel, Renswoude, Overberg, and Woudenberg. Along the way, you'll pass Renswoude Castle and the monumental houses surrounding the castle, with access to the gardens. You'll pass De Hof restaurant and the Grebbelinie visitor center, where you can learn more about the historic waterline. You can also visit Hoeve de Beek, including a trench and casemate. The route ends via the water tower and various junctions, back to the park. This cycling route is available at reception.

Cycling routes: From Landgoed Ruwinkel, Amerongen, Leersum

The approximately 38 km route takes you through Scherpenzeel, Amerongen, and Leersum, with the option to add an additional 5 km via the ferry at Elst. Along the way, you'll pass historical and cultural attractions such as Scherpenzeel House, Amerongen Castle, the Tobacco Growing Museum, and De Weistaar cheese farm. The trail also passes through beautiful nature reserves, including the Amerongen Forest and Leersum Forest, along the Ginkel Dune and the Grebbe Line Valley Canal. Visitors can visit the information center and historic casemates at Hoeve de Beek. The route starts and ends in the park and can be extended as needed. This cycling route is available at reception.

Cycling routes: From Landgoed Ruwinkel, Renswoude, Achterveld, De Glind

This 35 km bike tour takes you through the beautiful Gelderland countryside, passing villages like Renswoude, Achterveld, and De Glind. Along the way, you'll pass landmarks such as the Walderveen windmill dating from 1895 and the Roman Catholic church in Achterveld, which has been restored after war damage. In De Glind, you'll discover the unique youth village with a focus on family homes. The route follows mostly quiet country roads, eventually returning to the starting point at the park in Scherpenzeel. This cycling route is available at reception.

Cycling routes: From Landgoed Ruwinkel, Renswoude, Veenendaal

The approximately 23 km bike tour runs from Scherpenzeel via Renswoude to Veenendaal. Along the way, you'll pass Renswoude Castle and its historic houses, and you can take a break at the "De Hof" restaurant. The route largely follows quiet roads and forest paths, passing several junctions. In Veenendaal, you'll reach the town center with shops, charming cafés, and a market on Tuesday and Saturday mornings. The tour combines culture, nature, and urban ambiance in a single route. This cycling route is available at reception.

Cycling routes: From Landgoed Ruwinkel, Scherpenzeel, Woudenberg, Maarn, Austerlitz

This approximately 35 km cycling route leads you from the park towards Scherpenzeel, where you'll pass Huize Scherpenzeel, a historic country house dating back to the 14th century. Then, you'll cycle along quiet paths to the hexagonal water tower dating from 1937 and along the Valleikanaal, a key part of the Grebbe Line. The route continues past Landhuis Den Treek, a former farmstead that has been transformed into a charming country retreat. You'll cycle through forests and heathland towards Austerlitz and Maarn, where the landscape is constantly changing. At Hoeve de Beek, you'll learn more about the liberation during World War II and get a close-up view of a trench and casemate. Then, follow the junctions back to the park.
