At Landgoed Ruwinkel, we choose sustainably produced paper and encourage guests to reuse used information sheets. We also feature regional products like rolls from the local bakery and organic cleaning products with eco-labels. Our guests can also charge their electric cars and carefully separate waste, so we all leave a green footprint together.
If you have an electric car, you can charge it in our central parking lot. There is space for four cars. Once your car is charged, please unplug it and move it so other guests can charge theirs.
Much of our communication is now digital. We've made our digital mailbox available to our suppliers, so printing and mailing are no longer necessary. If you have a question and plan to send it by letter, please email us at info@landgoedruwinkel.nl
Our recycling center is located at the central parking lot: here you can separate your paper, glass, and other waste. There are also several collection points throughout the park for your other waste. Any remaining waste is incinerated by our waste processing company and converted into green energy.
Our bungalows are cleaned with cleaning products from Ewepo, Zwolle. These cleaning products are fully biodegradable and carry the European Ecolabel and the Nordic Swan label. All Ewepo cleaning products are certified Sustainable Cleaning.
Landgoed Ruwinkel tries to avoid unnecessary printing, such as expensive glossy brochures and the like, as much as possible. Nevertheless, we do want to give you a wonderful holiday feeling, so finding the right balance is key. Therefore, we only use paper with the Respecting Sustainable Sources quality mark for our communications. This means it is sustainably produced. You can return your old paper to us, closing the loop on paper recycling. If you return the information leaflet you received, it can be reused for the next guest, which benefits the environment.
Something that comes from far away isn't necessarily better: the shorter a product travels, the better it is for the environment. For example, the rolls for our bread service are baked by a local baker, the meats come from a local butcher, and the eggs from a local chicken farmer. If it has to come from far away because it simply can't be grown locally, we prefer to buy from organizations with a fair trade certification. This way, we know for sure that the local farmer benefits and there's no child labor involved. Come visit our reception desk to see what we have to offer!
When designing the bungalows, we're thinking long-term: items need to last. If lighting is replaced, we'll first use LED lighting or a good energy-saving bulb.
Guests can contribute to our sustainability by using only as much water as you need. Turn off lights and appliances when you're away. For example, unplug the coffee maker when you're not using it. Set your thermostat to 15 degrees Celsius when you go to bed or when you leave the house. Stock the refrigerator with bottled water whenever possible.
